Church gets set for festive event

IT’S ho ho ho as St Thomas of Canterbury Church lays down plans for its 2019 Christmas Bazaar.

St Thomas of Canterbury Church in Grays will this year hold its annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, 24 November with a lot of family fun and assorted food on offer.

The fun-packed event which has previously been held on Saturdays will start at 12 noon and run to 3pm sin the Church Hall on John Street with different raffles, games and competitions on offer.

Lucky winners will walk away with £500, £200 and £100 in cash prizes in the grand draw. Tickets are only £1.

Food lovers will have plenty to choose from including a breakfast bar, cakes, Jollof rice, fried rice and chicken, Waakye (Ghanaian rice with beans) puff puffs (fritters) and much more.

Grab a bargain on early Christmas gifts; books, toys, candles and jewellery. If you are looking to stock up on your favourite tipple for Christmas, the bottle stall awaits.

Father Christmas will be on hand for that warm and cuddly hug for little ones.

Parish Priest, Canon Brian O’Shea said: “Come and enjoy an early Christmas spirit with us. This is an important day on our Parish calendar when we get together and celebrate as a community while raising the much-needed funds to keep our Parish going.

“Sunday is traditionally a family day and that’s why this year we hope more people will be able to join us as we ‘kick’ the winter blues in style.”

The entrance is via St John Street. The Christmas Bazaar is the Parish’s main annual fund-raising event
