Community stadium plan hits the buffers say forum after planning consultation meeting drops off agenda

MEMBERS of a borough community forum have spoken of their regret after a company planning to develop an industrial site on their patch appears to have reneged on a proposal to hold a second public meeting about the scheme.

The plan has been floated to turn much of the land surround the now defunct Thurrock FC stadium at Ship Lane, Aveley, into a car preparation plan – though the stadium itself could be upgraded and retained as a community facility.

Consultants representing the developers met with residents at a meeting of Aveley and Kenningtons Community Forum on 17 September.

Today the forum issued the following statement: “Although the consultants agreed at this meeting to attend a further meeting in October, so that residents could have the opportunity to ask the consultants questions relating to the pending application, it is with regret that the forum has to advise you that it appears the Consultants have had a change of heart and will not be attending after all.

“Therefore, the next forum public meeting will be as planned on Tuesday 19 November, 7.30 pm, at Aveley Football Stadium, Parkside, Aveley.
