Peterborough Sports 3, East Thurrock United 2
EAST Thurrock bowed out of the FA Cup in Tuesday night’s replay in Peterborough despite dominating much of the match.
The hosts enjoyed a good start with the award of a controversial penalty after keeper Jack Giddens was harshly adjudged to have fouled a Sports striker but they gradually took control of the match and after a long passage of dominant play a well worked goal was swept home by Frankie Merrifield.
However, the good work was undone when they allowed Sports to regain the lead in the last minute of the half.
And though they were again the side that saw most of the ball in the second half, another counter attack ended with Sports grabbing a third with 20 minutes to go.
Rocks battled to the end and Ayo Alukoga scored on 90 minutes after great work by Frankie Merrifield but it wasn’t enough.
