UPDATED: Tributes paid to doctor who leaves a legacy of care and compassion in town

MANY warm tributes have been paid by members of the Stanford-le-Hope community following the death of a much-loved and respected GP who serves the town for several decades.

Dr Kuiren George was resident GP at the clinic in Wharf Road before he retired. He passed away on Sunday, aged 91.

News of his death brought many tributes on social media where dozens of former patients have paid tribute to his caring manner.

He was described as a ‘lovely man’, a ‘brilliant doctor’ and ‘a true gentleman.’ He was particularly praised for his work with children.

Janet Jannaway, who joined the practice in 1990 and still works there, said: “He was the best employer I ever had.”

Details of Dr George’s funeral have now been announced.

A service at the Methodist Church will be held on Monday, 20 May at 10.30am at the Methodist Church, High Street, Stanford-le-Hope and will be followed by committal and burial at Stanford-le-Hope cemetery, Wharf Road.
