Amazing cast hit the heights with Benidorm at the Cliffs

BENIDORM: Southend Cliffs Pavilion. Until Saturday, 12 January

WHAT an amazing original cast for this production of Benidorm Live.

Written by the very talented Derren Litten, the show carries on from where the TV series left off with the threat of the Solana being taken over.

Each time one of the six best known cast members entered the stage there were cheers and claps and plenty of saucy blue humour and un-subtle innuendos throughout.

Tony Maudsley, wearing his usual suggestive t-shirts, and Adam Gillen were hilarious as Kenneth and Liam, proprietors of the notorious Blow & Go hair salon.

Sherie Hewson was her usual harassed yet sassy hotel manager and who knew that Sam (Shelley Longworth) had such an amazing voice while performing in the second half at the Solana’s Neptune’s Bar Karaoke night?

Jake Canuso was his usual greasy lathario barman Mateo and performed a rather inspiring flamenco as part of the dodgy entertainment at the run down hotel.

Janine Duvitski as Jacqueline and Damian Williams as gay Derek were comical as friends who met at their local swingers club.

Opening night seemed go without a hitch and the set was impressive, changing from reception, to the pool side and in the second half, Neptune’s Bar.

With the finale of the show being a rendition of Y viva Espana the audience were clapping and singing along and received an appreciative round of applause.
