A BOROUGH-based charity which expanded throughout 2018 as it helped hundreds of local people break through the barrier of loneliness is seeking more volunteers as it continues its work.
Thurrock Contact the Elderly (CTE) organised meals, meetings and events for groups of older people who in brings together on a regular basis, particularly for tea parties which have proved incredibly popular. Now CTE is hoping to expand its team of helpers.
Organiser Loraine Coleman say: “Thurrock CTE is on the hunt for volunteers.“We would love more people to join us in 2019 as a volunteer driver or to host an event to change the lives of lonely, isolated elderly in Thurrock.
“Come along to a tea party and see how much joy and pleasure these bring to our guests.“Tea parties are being held this month in Headon Hall, Stifford Clays every Sunday from 3pm till 5pm. We all look forward to welcoming you.
“It’s not a big commitment, just a few hours once a month for drivers or twice a year for hosts.”More information can be obtained from Loraine by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via the details on the poster.
The next tea party at Headon Hall is on Sunday, 13 January and thereafter every Sunday this month. Anyone interested is asked to contact Loraine so the charity can manage numbers.
