A GRAYS restaurant played host to a fundraising evening organised by friends and fellow workers of a cancer victim.
Majid Sadfar was a popular member of staff at Grays Royal mail depot before his life was cut short by leukaemia.
In his memory colleagues held a curry evening at the Desi Restaurant on Orsett Road, Grays, where his life was celebrated and many happy memories recalled. A contribution from the cost of the meal was given back to the group by Desi, with proceeds from the evening all going to the Leukaemia UK charity.
One of the evening’s organisers was Jane Pitman who said: “Majid was one of the most caring and genuine people I have ever known. He was a hard-working and much loved colleague at the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Grays and we will all remember him with much love.
“It was an absolute honour to work with him. Our loss is heaven’s gain. Rest in peace our wonderful friend, love your friends at Royal Mail. “
