Poppies bloom as village pays tribute

VILLAGERS in North Stifford have adorned the village with poppies to mark the commemoration of the end of the First World War 100 years ago.

Verges and hedges have been adorned with poppies made by residents, who have also  erected a large cross on the village green and this will be draped with a curtain of poppies a little closer to the weekend.
The search is now on for anyone who might be able to play the Last Post at either or both of the Remembrance services on Saturday, 10 and Sunday, 11 November.
Anyone who might be able to do that is asked to email organiser Brenda Smallcombe at brendasmallcombe@ hotmail.co.uk.
