Grays earn battling draw at Urchins

ON the day of the funeral of stalwart supporter and former borough mayor George Watts, Grays paid tribute to him with a battling draw against Bostik North table-topping derby rivals Hornchurch that belied recent disappointing results and performances.
The Blues opened the scoring after 36 minutes when Sam Cross curled in a delightful free kick from the right at eluded the dive of Sam Mott to reach the top corner
It was a lead Grays took to the break but Leon Mckenzie put the home side, who are unbeaten in the league, level on59 minutes.
Things looked bleaker for the Blues when Theo Fairweather-johnson gave the Urchins a 75th minute lead but a deep cross from the left four minutes later was met by Jack Fowler’s angled header and the visitors had a very deserved share of the points from an entertaining match.
