Two seriously injured in crash where driver flees scene

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a road traffic collision in which a woman and a child were badly injured.
The pedestrians, a 65-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, were hurt in Coronation Avenue, East Tilbury, at around 8.20am on Wednesday (16 May).
The car involved was a dark gray Mercedes A-Class
Both the woman and girl were taken to hospital, the woman was described as being in a critical condition and the girl as “suffering serious injuries”.
The car failed to stop and was found abandoned in Mucking Wharf Road.
A 25-year-old man from Basildon was later arrested at the Five Bells roundabout in Fobbing.
Essex Police want to speak to anyone who saw the car before or after the collision, and anyone who saw a man on foot leaving Mucking Wharf Road.
