Heritage centre pays Dambusters tribute

THIS Sunday (20 May) Purfleet Heritage Centre in Centurion Way, Purfleet, will be remembering the Royal Air Force Bomber Command 617 Squadron – better known as ‘The Dambusters’ – who will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the daring raid to breach dams deep into Germany.
In the Bomber Command 1943 display at the centre you will see a full size replica Barnes Wallace bouncing bomb, an airman’s sheepskin flying suit together with equipment as used by the Command in WW II.
The shop will be open selling prints that depict Lancasters over the dams.
There you will also find various aircraft and Air Man prints, which some of which are signed.
The centre is open from 10am to 3.30pm.
Light refreshments will be available at the tea bar.
