YOUNG Thurrock singer Ruti Olajugbagbe has won through to the next stage of ITV’s
Singing show ‘The Voice.’
Ruti, 18, who is mentored by Tom Jones was picked by the singing legend to ‘battle’ with 16-year-old Saskia Eng and the duo performed Florence and the Machine’s ‘Dog Days Are Over’.
They draw a standing ovation from the audience and judge Jennifer Hudson said: “You ladies handled yourself exceptionally well, outstanding.”
Judges and Ollie Murs were also enthusiastic, saying: “It was a pleasure to hear, Ruti, your voice is angelic,” and Ollie added: “It was absolutely brilliant, you should be very proud of yourself.”
Tom Jones selected Ruti, a student and part-time carer for a family friend, who performed ‘Budapest’ by George Ezra in her blind audition but there was consolation for Saski who was ‘stolen’ by to join his team.
